Bowling Green Police arrested a man and woman from Michigan after they reportedly broke into multiple storage units and stole items.

Thomas Owens, 40, of Albion, Michigan, and Aubrey McClintock, 33, of Homer, Michigan, were both charged with five counts of breaking and entering and receiving stolen property.

Police were called Monday at 4:18 p.m., to All Size Storage located at 2041 Victory Lane, for a breaking and entering report.  The owner of the storage facility told officers that on Sunday, at 11:12 p.m., a male and female entered the premises driving a U-Haul truck. Surveillance cameras caught images of the incident and the suspects.

The video showed the man and woman, reportedly Owens and McClintock, entering storage units not rented by them. Owens was reportedly carrying red bolt cutters. Prior to entering the units, the pair put on gloves and face masks.

The video reportedly shows Owens using the bolt cutters to cut the locks to five storage units. Both he and McClintock reportedly entered the units, took items, and loaded them into the U-Haul.

The surveillance footage also shows the U-Haul truck number. An officer then went to Muffler Brothers, which is a U-Haul rental agency.

At Muffler Brothers, police were told the truck was rented out of Jackson, Michigan, on Dec. 18. The truck was reported stolen on Dec. 26, by the person who rented it, who told U-Haul that her aunt, McClintock, had stolen it.

According to the niece, McClintock told her that the truck had been returned, however, she reportedly kept renewing the rental with her niece’s bank card.

By using Facebook accounts, Bowling Green police were able to identify Owens.

Police tracked Owens and McClintock to a Bowling Green hotel, where the U-Haul was parked, according to Lt. Adam Skaff.

BG Police will continue to follow up as the victims of the thefts from the storage units make police reports.

A report was made Wednesday evening from a person who said a travel train case and about $125 inside were stolen from her storage unit.

Police heard from two other people Thursday, who said items were stolen from their storage units. One person reported that two dish sets, a silver dollar certificate, and six silver dollar coins valued at $50 each were stolen.

Another person reported several items with an estimated value of $1,355 were stolen from his unit, including seven Airsoft firearms and three tactical vests.
