Two calls to BG Police Division early this morning resulted in the reported victim in the first incident being arrested in the second incident.
The first incident came in around 12:14 a.m., when a caller reported an unknown man standing in the living room of his residence in the 200 block of Manville Avenue. The resident then left the home.
When officers arrived at the home, they asked if they could search the residence to make sure the person wasn’t still there. But the residents would not allow police to conduct a search.
Andrew Burkhart, 21, who made the call to police, reportedly told officers that he got into an altercation with the unknown male before he left the residence. Burkhart had dried blood on both of his hands and dried blood around his nose. He told police the unknown male had struck him in the face.
A couple hours later, at 2:38 a.m., police were dispatched to another house in the 200 block of Manville Avenue, for a report of a male breaking into the residence.
Based on the description given by the caller, officers were advised to return to the house they had been to earlier in the night. As an officer talked with Burkhart at the first residence, it was noticed that he had a firearm tucked in the back of his pants. The gun had 17 rounds in the magazine and a round in the chamber.
According to the police report, Burkhart allegedly pounded on the door of the second residence so hard that the door jamb broke. He told the residents that someone threw eggs at his door, and he thought they might have been responsible.
Burkhart was cited for use of a weapon while intoxicated and attempted burglary. He was taken to Wood County Jail.
