A Bowling Green man was arrested for felonious assault and aggravated menacing shortly after midnight on Friday, after police were dispatched to his home in the 900 block of Gustin Avenue.
Chad Hoover, 41, was charged after reportedly beating up his roommate, and then allegedly threatening law enforcement officers.
Police were called to his residence Friday, and found his alleged victim who was badly beaten on his face to the extent that police reports said he was unrecognizable to some officers who knew the victim. He was taken to St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
Inside the home, police reported large amounts of pooled and splattered blood in the living room.
Police located Hoover in his garage. He reportedly resisted arrest and had to be secured by multiple officers. Hoover reportedly had blood on his face and clothes, but no injuries except to his hands. Hoover initially said that one of the officers hit him with a sledgehammer, but Bowling Green Fire Division checked Hoover for injuries and found none.
While being transported to the Wood County Jail, Hoover reportedly made threats, racial slurs and homophobic remarks. The officer handling the transport reported Hoover said, “I will hunt you down and slit you.”
In October, Hoover was charged by Bowling Green Police Division with obstructing justice and aggravated menacing.
