BG Police arrest man for heroin, 126 needles, after he reportedly said he needed the bag with drugs from his pickup

Bowling Green Police Division arrested a man early Sunday for possession of heroin and more than 120 hypodermic needles.

Nathan Swiecicki, 33, of Bowling Green, was stopped by police Sunday at 1:48 a.m., after an officer noticed the white Chevy pickup he was driving had only one functioning brake light and an expired registration.

The officer asked Swiecicki where he was going, since he appeared to be in a hurry. Swiecicki reportedly told the officer he was headed home, but he was headed in the opposite direction. The officer found that Swiecicki did not have a driver’s license.

Police told Swiecicki that his vehicle was going to be towed, and an officer asked if he needed anything out of the truck. He reportedly told the officer that he needed a red bag and his coat.

An officer asked if he cared if his bag was checked “to make sure he does not have anything crazy in there,” according to the police report. Swiecicki reportedly began to stutter and stated, “Yeah I do have shit in there.” When the officer asked him what he meant, Swiecicki reportedly said “drugs.”

Police searched the red bag and found a large number of hypodermic needles, a couple spoons and a couple cotton balls. In total, the bag reportedly contained 126 hypodermic needles, numerous cigarette packs containing empty bindles and two spoons with one having a burn mark on the bottom of it. Inside one folded piece of paper was a white/brownish powder.

Swiecicki then reportedly admitted to police that he had used heroin about four hours earlier.

Police checked and found Swiecicki’s driver’s license had been suspended due to failure to reinstate, and failure to have auto insurance.

Swiecicki was arrested for possession of drugs, heroin and drug abuse instruments. He was also cited for stoplight regulations, a broken brake light, expired operator registration, failure to reinstate his license and failure to have auto insurance.

He was taken to Wood County jail.
