BG police arrest man for hit-skip, driving drunk, and improper handling of firearms in car

A Michigan man was arrested Saturday in Bowling Green for reportedly leaving the scene after hitting a car, driving under the influence, and improper handling of firearms in his vehicle.

Michael Six, 38, of Manitou Beach, Michigan, was stopped by Bowling Green police around 11:19 p.m., on East Clough Street, after a report was made of a hit/skip incident in the area. The officer reported noticing front end damage on Six’s vehicle. One front tire was flat, and one rear tire was missing with the rim emitting sparks as it made contact with the roadway.

As the officer looked inside the vehicle, he reportedly noticed a handgun on the floorboard near Six’s feet between the gas and the brake pedals. Police also found a loaded AR-15 style rifle in the back seat.

Also in the back seat was an open container of vodka. A bottle of mouthwash was located on the driver side floorboard next to the handgun.

According to the police report, Six had difficulty performing the “walk and turn test” and the “one leg stand test.”

Police asked Six if he would be willing to submit a breath sample. He reportedly said, “I wish I could, but my lawyer would tell me not to.” Six also refused to submit a urine sample.

Six was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, driving an unsafe vehicle, improperly handling firearms in a vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, having an open container in his vehicle, and failure to stop after an accident.
