BG Police charge Toledo man for driving under suspension, resisting arrest

A Toledo man was arrested Monday in Bowling Green for driving under suspension, unauthorized plates, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.

Jazz Westley Sr., 34, of Toledo, was approached by a Bowling Green police officer at 11:12 a.m., at the Speedway station on East Wooster Street, after it was noticed that the vehicle he was driving had the registration for a different vehicle, and the driver had a suspended license.

Westley reportedly showed the officer a title for the vehicle, but it did not match the vehicle he was driving. A search of Westley’s pockets reportedly turned up a plastic bag of marijuana.

Westley was told he was being charged with driving under suspension and his vehicle was being towed. He was told he would have to sit in the police vehicle. According to the police report, Westley became belligerent and resisted being handcuffed.

One of the officers on the scene pulled out his taser and pointed it at Westley’s chest and told him he would be tasered if he didn’t stop resisting arrest. The taser was not used.

During the encounter, Westley reportedly claimed that the military was following him and that he was God and the devil.

Once handcuffed and walked over to the police vehicle, Westley reportedly began struggling again and placed one of his legs against the car and began pushing backward. An officer requested the prisoner van, which was used to take Westley to the Wood County jail.
