Bowling Green Police Division charged four people with possession of marijuana in two different incidents this week.
On Monday around 8:10 p.m., an officer reported seeing a Jeep drift off the roadway on South College Drive. The driver, Asha DeCarol Smith, 22, of Mercer Road, Bowling Green, reportedly told the officer she went off the roadway because she was attempting to use the GPS on her phone. According to the police report, the officer smelled marijuana, and saw a plastic bag of marijuana on the front passenger floorboard and a burnt marijuana roach sitting by the radio.
When the vehicle was searched, the officer reportedly found a plastic bottle containing hallucinogenic mushrooms, a plastic container with marijuana inside, numerous marijuana roaches in the ashtray, a bag of cigar wrappers, rolling papers and a roller.
Smith was placed under arrest and taken to the Wood County jail. During the jail intake process, a deputy reportedly located a bag of marijuana in Smith’s vaginal area.
Smith was charged with possession of marijuana, marijuana drug paraphernalia and failure to stay in marked lanes.
On Tuesday, shortly after midnight, an officer noticed a car parked in an unusual location near the intersection of Briarwood Drive and Bentwood Lane. According to the police report, the windows were so fogged that the officer could not see into the car. The officer turned on the patrol car spotlight, and saw that the car was filled with smoke.
As the officer approached the car, he detected the smell of burning marijuana. The officer asked if there was any marijuana left in the car. The driver, Charles Evan Russell, 18, of East Merry Street, Bowling Green, and front seat passenger, Ian Alexander Smith, 18, of Mercer Road, Bowling Green, each reportedly produced a plastic bag with small amounts of marijuana.
A marijuana blunt was then passed forward from the back seat. The officer said he could not tell which rear seat passenger had the blunt because the smoke was too thick to see. Upon a search of the vehicle, marijuana was reportedly found in the purse of back seat passenger Mariah Rose Woodruff, 19, of Risingsun.
Russell, Smith and Woodruff were cited for possession of marijuana.
