Bowling Green Police Division handled an estimated 20 cases involving alcohol violations over the weekend – most of them incidents of underage drinking and open containers.
In one incident on Saturday (9/28), an officer was patrolling the 100 block of East Court Street around 2 a.m., when she observed a male vomiting in the city parking lot behind the first block of North Main Street.
As the officer approached the man and asked for his driver’s license, the man reportedly took off running eastbound on East Court Street. The officer reported advising the man to stop multiple times, but he kept running.
An officer who apprehended the man reportedly found him to have a fictitious Indiana driver’s license, glossy eyes, an odor of alcohol, and vomit on his shorts. His real driver’s license reportedly showed that he was 20 years old, too young to purchase alcohol. He was cited for disorderly conduct, underage under the influence of alcohol, obstructing official business and misrepresentation to obtain alcohol.
In another incident on Sunday (9/29) around 12:50 a.m., an officer on foot patrol in the same city parking lot reportedly observed a man walking with an open bottle of alcohol. The officer asked for the driver’s license from the man, who reportedly told police he didn’t have any form of identification.
When asked for a birth date, the man hesitated and gave one date, but when asked again he reportedly gave a different date. As the man was being handcuffed, he allegedly pulled his arm away and began running northbound. Other officers assisted, and the man was put under arrest and cited for open container, falsification and obstructing official business.
