BG police investigate several cars being spray painted overnight

Bowling Green Police Division is investigating reports of several cars being spray painted overnight Friday in the city.

Residents of Clough Street and Mercer Road awoke to find orange spray paint on their vehicles, a driveway, sidewalk, plus inside the hallway of an apartment building.

Police got the first call before 8 a.m. on Friday, when a resident in the 1400 block of Clough Street called to report orange paint on the driver’s side of her car and on her driveway. Due to the cold weather, the paint did not set and was wiped off the car, but remained on the driveway.

The spray paint did not form words or symbols, but was just in circles and lines, according to the responding office.

Police next responded to another call in the 200 block of South Mercer Road, from the building’s owner who found orange spray paint on the sidewalks outside the building, plus on the interior walls, doors and hand railings inside the building.

The apartment owner did report that a tenant had contacted her last week about a subject sleeping under the stairs in the hallway, but she had no information on the person.

Two other cars were reportedly sprayed at the apartment complex..

While taking reports on the vandalism, the police located numerous other vehicles with spray paint on them in the parking lot in the 1400 block of Clough Street. It appeared that the paint could be removed from all the cars.
