Bowling Green Police Division pursued a motorcycle without a visible registration Tuesday around 7:47 p.m., but terminated the chase.
An officer reported seeing a motorcycle northbound on North Main Street, swerving through both northbound lanes, then turning east onto Ridge Street. The officer caught up with the motorcycle when it stopped at Summit Street and East Wooster.
The motorcycle turned eastbound onto East Wooster Street, and the officer activated his cruiser’s overhead lights and siren. Two cars ahead of the motorcycle pulled over, and the motorcycle illegally passed them.
As the motorcycle approached Manville, the driver slowed down and turned to look at me, at which time he waved in such a manner that I believed he was instigating a pursuit.
The motorcycle was a sport bike with black and white markings. The driver appeared to be a white male wearing a gray T-shirt with a large skull image with the words “GET WEIRD” underneath, jeans, and a gray helmet with a orange/yellow visor.
The motorcyclist ran the red light on Wooster at Manville and did the same when he came to the red light at South College, continuing eastbound. As he passed Biddle Street, he rapidly accelerated away from the officer. The motorcycle then turned northbound on Mercer, through another red light, and again rapidly accelerated away from the officer, whose speed reached approximately 62 mph. The motorcyclist then turned westbound on Merry and accelerated rapidly again.
The officer terminated the pursuit, due to the risk to the public, but continued to follow the motorcycle.
He observed the motorcycle go through the stop sign on Merry at Willard without stopping, then go through the stop sign at North College as he turned northbound onto North College without stopping. The motorcycle then turned westbound onto Poe from North College, again running a red light.
At the intersection of Poe and Main, the motorcycle again ran the red light and turned southbound on North Main. On North Main near Clay, the motorcycle accelerated away from the officer, who followed him at a distance to South Main and Gypsy Lane, at which time the officer responded to a different call for service.
