Bowling Green Police Division is looking for two people who reportedly tried to buy more than $2,300 in items using stolen credit cards at Walmart.

The credit cards were reportedly stolen Saturday from a woman’s purse while she was shopping at Kroger, on the north side of Bowling Green. While police were taking the report on the stolen cards, they received a call about the credit cards being used at Walmart, on the south end of the city.

A video at the checkout showed a man and woman trying to purchase clothing, toys and several gift cards. The four credit cards they tried were declined.

BG Police Lt. Dan Mancuso said the police division is seeing more thefts of purses or credit cards from inside stores. Normally at the Christmas season, the police see an increase in car break-ins. But Mancuso said that since more people are shopping online, shoppers are being targeted inside stores.

Mancuso also said that since many people are working from home, fewer home delivered packages are being reported stolen this season.

Anyone who can help identify these two individuals or have any information regarding the incident is asked to contact BGPD at 419-352-1131.
