BG police seek suspect in jewelry store break-in

Nothing appears to have been stolen from the Kay Jewelers, which was broken into early Thursday morning.

The suspect broke a window into the store, but couldn’t get to any of the merchandise, according to Bowling Green Police Lt. Dan Mancuso.

The police division received a call from Work Leads to Independence, that a van had been stolen overnight from the agency’s South Main Street site. A staff member on the way to work then reported seeing the van at Kay Jewelers, 1107 S. Main St., Mancuso said.

Police found the empty van, still running, in front of the jewelry store – with a window into the store being broken.

Detectives have processed the van and scene to search for evidence of the suspect. They will be following up with businesses in the area to get surveillance video which may have captured the suspect, Mancuso said.
