BG police shut down large, loud parties over weekend

Bowling Green Police Division responded to three party complaints over the weekend – resulting in two being shut down, and one sending home all but a small number of guests.

On Saturday, at 2:03 p.m., police got a call about a large loud party on Crim Street. Upon arrival, police found about 50 people at a party in the backyard of a home in the 100 block of Crim Street.

Officers had previously been at the same address for a loud party one day earlier. Police spoke with the resident hosting the party, and advised him that all of the people in his backyard not wearing masks and not social distancing were clearly in violation of a gathering of more than 10 people. Police also told the host that the loud speakers outside were unacceptable.

The resident was asked to shut off the music and make most of the people leave. He was given a warning for disorderly conduct, and was advised that if police had to return to his house, he would likely be cited.

On Sunday, at 12:13 a.m., police responded to the 200 block of North Prospect Street for a large and loud party. The residents were given a criminal warning for disorderly conduct/noise. The party was shut down, and litter was cleaned up from the yard.

On Friday, at 2:51 a.m., police responded to the 200 block of South Mercer Road for a loud party. When police arrived, it sounded as if there might be a small verbal altercation in the apartment. The resident of the apartment had a small cut on his forehead. He said someone threw a beer can at him, but it was just a misunderstanding.

The resident cleared everyone out of the apartment, and was advised that if police were called back, he could be cited.
