BG police stop vehicle owned by man with felony parole violation

Bowling Green police officers stopped a vehicle in the downtown this morning, and drew their firearms because the owner of the vehicle is wanted on a felony parole violation, and is listed as “armed and dangerous.”

Bowling Green State University police first spotted the car, noticing that the owner, James Smith, 31, of Toledo, has a national warrant for a parole violation for robbery. Smith also has a felony probation violation.

Smith, however, was not in the vehicle – which was being driven by his girlfriend, said BG Police Major Justin White.

City police officers stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of South Main Street around 11:42 a.m. Wednesday. As they do with all felony traffic stops, the officers had their weapons drawn, White said.
