Property owners in Bowling Green are required to clear their sidewalks of ice and snow within twenty-four hours after snowfall stops.
Failure to clear walks may result in the issuance of a citation. In addition, the city may order sidewalks to be cleared by a contractor with all costs billed to the property owner. Details on requirements and procedures are outlined in Section 98.06 of the city’s codified ordinances which can be reviewed on the city’s website: www.bgohio.org.
Citizens and snow plow contractors should not shovel, plow, or blow snow onto the city streets when clearing snow from sidewalks and driveways. This delays the process of street clearing and is prohibited.
The city has several designated “Snow Streets” throughout the city. These streets are marked with blue and white signs. A list of street is also available on the city’s website. Any vehicle parked on a snow street must be removed within two hours after accumulation of two inches of snow. Vehicles parked in violation of snow regulations are subject to towing at the owner’s expense and/or a citation. Even if you don’t live on a snow street, it is very helpful to remove vehicles from the street whenever possible. Doing so will expedite the road snow removal process.
