The Bowling Green Board of Education voted Tuesday evening to give the district treasurer a 1% merit pay raise, effective Aug. 1.
The decision was made after a two-hour executive session for the purpose of discussing the compensation of a public employee.
The merit pay, totaling $1,236, will be paid in a lump sum and added to the base salary of Treasurer Cathy Schuller.
Though all five board members voted in favor of the merit pay, board member Tracy Hovest said she regretted that the amount is only 1%.
“I don’t agree with the 1% increase,” Hovest said. “It’s not equitable with the progress she has made.”
Board President Ryan Myers said the board evaluates administrative staff – the treasurer and superintendent – each year. Last year Schuller was given 3% merit pay.
