Bowling Green City School District is targeted to get vaccines for staff on the tentative date of Feb. 12. Following is an email sent to parents and guardians from Superintendent Francis Scruci:

“For the past several weeks school superintendents throughout Wood County have been working side by side with the Wood County Health Department to coordinate the administration of Covid-19 vaccines to our approximately 3,000 adults working in our schools.

“While the actual date remains unknown at this time, we do know that school employees will receive their first dosage on a Friday in February. Our target date is Feb. 12, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., but the Ohio Health Department has not verified that date yet and we will not have verification until a week before the vaccines arrive.

“The governor announced today that all districts will know Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, and we remain hopeful that will happen as we have all decided to pool our resources together as a county.

“On the day employees receive the vaccine, all Wood County schools will have a Virtual Learning Day. When schools are notified by the local health department that the vaccines have arrived, we will notify you promptly to give everyone time to make the necessary arrangements that you may need to make.

“This same process will be followed either three weeks or one month after the date of the first vaccine (depending on whether we receive Pfizer or Moderna vaccine) so Wood County school employees can receive their second vaccine. When that date has been determined it will be shared with you in a very timely manner.

“We continue to thank you for your patience and flexibility.”
