Bowling Green City Schools has received a donation of school supplies from a Bowling Green State University leadership class.
Tommy Gillespie, a senior, and Connor Dembeck, a junior, dropped off the items on Friday at the school district administrative offices. They donated new backpacks, notebooks, pens and markers.
“We thought about what supplies we used the most,” Gillespie said. “I’ve been in public schools and they are always asking for help.”
“We were once in their shoes,” Dembeck said. “Having supplies is necessary.”
The school supplies were accepted by Kenwood Elementary Principal Kathleen Daney and Crim Elementary Principal Zeb Kellough.
Kellough said the supplies will be put to good use.
“Absolutely, in a second,” he said.
And Daney said the supplies are much needed by some new refugee families who recently arrived in Bowling Green.
“They need everything,” she said.
