Bowling Green City Schools has sent a message out to parents, guardians, staff and students about two TikTok challenges that are causing alarm for schools and school administrators.
According to the email, Friday has been dubbed “National Shoot You at School Day,” with a TikTok challenge for students to use their cell phones as guns.
Bowling Green City Schools is working closely with Bowling Green Police Division, and there will be an added police presence in the schools on Friday.
Superintendent Francis Scruci is asking parents and guardians to have conversations with their students about not participating in the challenges. The district will have zero tolerance and expel any students taking part.
“Threats to school in any form will be taken as seriously as possible, as we want our students and staff to feel safe in our school environment,” Scruci wrote in the email. “It saddens me to have to send these types of emails to you. We continue to prioritize the health and safety of our school family and will not compromise those values.”
