BG science students help monitor water quality of Portage River

Bowling Green seventh graders look for "critters" in the Portage River.

Bowling Green City Schools seventh grade science students helped monitor the water quality of the Portage River last week.

The students and teachers were assisted by Bowling Green City staff and volunteers, along with the Wood County Park District and Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Students analyzed the chemical parameters and biological indicators of the river. They also participated in a nature walk and talk to learn more about watersheds, floodplains, and local wildlife/plants.
