Updated: BG superintendent field appears to be narrowed to one; board to make it official Wednesday

Ted Haselman

Bowling Green Board of Education is expected to make an official decision Wednesday evening on a new superintendent.

The original pool of 17 applicants had been narrowed to three finalists who met with the community. It appears the remaining candidate in the running is Ted Haselman, superintendent at Pike-Delta-York Local Schools.

The field of finalists was narrowed on Monday, when Bruce Otley was hired as the new superintendent at Liberty-Benton, where he has served as middle school principal and director of operations.

Another finalist, Kim Brueck, director of human resources and student services for Green Local Schools, reported on Facebook that she had been notified on May 3 that “The BOE has decided to go in a different direction. I wish the new super the very best. I hope whoever the Board chooses will be successful.”

Bowling Green Board of Education President Ryan Myers said a decision on the new superintendent will be made at Wednesday’s special meeting, starting at 5 p.m., in the administrative offices at 137 Clough St.
