The City of Bowling Green will be celebrating Arbor Day on May 9 at Conneaut Elementary, 542 Haskins Road, between 2 and 3 p.m.
Mayor Dick Edwards will be proclaiming the day as Arbor Day. Conneaut’s fifth grade students created posters of their “Favorite Tree in Bowling Green.” The Bowling Green Tree Commission will give awards to the students creating the top posters and the winning posters will be displayed. Students will also help plant a tree on the school’s grounds.
Bowling Green has a history of a strong commitment to its trees. The city has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for 39 years. Additionally, BG has received the Growth Award 25 times for enhancing its tree program which is the most in Ohio.
