BG woman arrested after shopping spree with stolen Visa

A Bowling Green woman was charged with theft after she went shopping on a credit card she reportedly stole from a vehicle. Andrea Remlinger, 23, of Bowling Green, was charged with one count of felony theft, and taken to the Wood County Jail.

Bowling Green Police Division was dispatched Wednesday to an apartment in the 300 block of Campbell Hill Road for a woman who said her wallet was stolen from inside her unlocked vehicle. She told police her Visa card had just been used at Meijer for $905.08.

The officer went to Meijer and talked with the clerk who helped a woman use the card scan for some of the electronics she purchased. The clerk described the woman as white with a black hoodie. Police requested a video copy of the transaction.

The police were then advised that the victim had received a call about someone trying to use the credit card at Walmart. The transaction had been declined since the victim had already canceled the card.

Police went to Walmart and met with employees. The person working in the electronics section said a female had tried two credit cards to purchase a TV.

While the officer and store manager were at the front of the store, the clerk in the electronics department then called to say that the female had returned to that section of the store.

They found Remlinger, who had the stolen wallet. Inside was the stolen Visa card, another Visa gift card, and two more credit cards belonging to two other people. The TV was found in Remlinger’s car, and returned to Walmart.
