Police Station seen at sunset

Bowling Green Police arrested a woman Wednesday (1/31) for reportedly shoplifting and endangering a child at Walmart, 131 W. Gypsy Lane Road.

Around 6:20 p.m., Walmart’s asset protection team told police the woman approached the self-checkout with a large quantity of goods, some which had reportedly already been placed in reusable bags in the cart. Employees also reported that she switched tickets, scanning cheaper items instead of the proper prices. She reportedly walked past all points of sale with 21 items costing $280.14, which had not been paid for.

The asset protection team reportedly tried to apprehend the woman, who then fled the store, leaving the cart in the vestibule.

Based on a description of her vehicle, police found her reportedly driving erratically at a high rate of speed, running through a stop sign. She stopped for police, then reportedly immediately exited and ran to the back seat of the car, where a toddler was sitting, not safety belted into the carseat.

The woman was arrested and taken to Wood County Jail. The father of the child came to pick him up.
