A Bowling Green woman was arrested for domestic violence after two children ran to a nearby gas station and reportedly asked for help.
Bowling Green Police Division was dispatched to the Circle K gas station on South Main Street at 1:37 a.m. on July 20, when a worker called to report two scared juveniles were seeking help. The girls, both 12 years old, said their mother had threatened them with a knife at their home in the 200 block of Napoleon Road.
The clerk stated the girls stood behind the register with her until police arrived.
Police recognized the girls from an incident last winter when they reportedly were in fear for their safety and ran away.
Officers arrested their mother, Deanna Galvan, 45, and took her to Wood County Jail.
The girls told police their mother was intoxicated, and was yelling and calling them names. They said they locked themselves in the apartment bathroom. At one point, the mom reportedly threatened to cut up one of the girl’s stuffed animals. The girl came out of the bathroom, and then the mother reportedly began threatening to kill her with the knife she was holding. She allegedly reached through the crack in the bathroom door with the knife and threatened to kill the sister still in the bathroom.
The girls reportedly ran to the gas station to get help.
When police went to the apartment, Galvan told police the girls were being disobedient again. According to the police report, Galvan appeared intoxicated and was not overly concerned about the girls missing.
The girls were taken to the police station, where Wood County Job and Family Services staff took custody of them.
