BGHS celebrates 2021 Rose Court at homecoming

BGHS Homecoming King and Queen Thompson Black and Kelsey Kerr

Bowling Green High School held its annual homecoming celebration on Oct. 8, with the theme of “Bobcat Night Out” selected by the BGHS StuCrew.

The 2021 Rose Court was selected by BGHS faculty. Seniors were chosen based on their demonstration of the core values of the Bowling Green City Schools community. 

The 2021 Homecoming Queen is Kelsey Kerr, the daughter of Matt and Stacy Kerr. Kelsey is part of the Madrigals, Chorale, cheer and StuCrew. Her community service ranges from volunteering through 4H to being active at First United Methodist Church. Kelsey spends her free time reading, hanging out with her friends and shopping. Kelsey is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She plans on attending college after graduation and majoring in Early Childhood Education.

The 2021 Homecoming King is Thompson Black, the son of Carolyn and Dallas Black. Thompson plays soccer, is in StuCrew, DECA and Senior Studio. He is part of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Thompson enjoys playing soccer in his free time and hanging out with friends. After graduation, Thompson will attend Bowling Green State University or The Ohio State University and major in Education.

The first senior female attendant is Brynna Gaines, the daughter of Danielle Gaines-Smith and her step dad, Dwight Smith. Brynna is very active in school activities including: the President of StuCrew, First Amendment Club, DECA, and the swim team. She has volunteered for the Mercy’s Children Dance Marathon, is part of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Brynna is a big advocate for health and nutrition and enjoys swimming, writing, getting coffee at Grounds and working at Local Roots. She plans on attending either the University of Dayton or Cincinnati and majoring in Sports Dietetics.

The first male attendant is Kyle Brackenbury. Kyle is the son of Karen and Tim Brackenbury. Kyle is part of Cross Country, Track and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader. He has been part of the Toledo Turners gymnastics for 12 years and in the Youth Group. Kyle enjoys going to the gym, hanging out with friends and running. Academically, Kyle has seen a lot of success in National Honors Society, National French Honors Society, a Scholar Athlete and is in the top 10 of his class. After graduation, Kyle plans on attending Bowling Green State University and majoring in Exercise Science to be an athletic trainer.

The second female attendant is Mallory Miller, the daughter of John and Dawn Miller. Mallory is a third year field commander in the Bobcat Marching Band, a member of Debate Club, and has been involved in both French Club and Bobcat Volleyball. She has a lot of volunteer hours at the Humane Society, WGTE Public Media, and the BG Church of the Nazarene. She is an employee at the Sweet Stop, a seasonal employee at the Board of Elections and participates in the Wood County Hospital Shadowing Program. She enjoys reading, spending time with her brother collecting vinyl records, spending time with her dogs, listening and playing music. She is also part of the French National Honor Society, National Honors Society, Honor Roll and selected for the Buckeye Girls State. After graduating, Mallory plans on attending college and earning a degree that will prepare her for the medical field. Her other goal in life is to have lots of animals.

The second male attendant is Sean Gollehon, the son of James Gollehon and Allison Fox. Sean plays hockey, lacrosse, football and performs with the Madrigals and Chorale. He is part of FFA and enjoys playing guitar and hanging out with friends. After graduation, Sean plans on attending Bowling Green State University.

The freshman female attendant is Tara Hastings, the daughter of Tricia and Joe Hastings. Tara is part of the high school volleyball team and StuCrew. She volunteers at the Black Swamp Arts Festival and enjoys dance, sporting events and spending time with family and friends. Tara is involved in honors curriculum at the high school and has an amazing 4.1 GPA.

The freshman male attendant is Treyvon Ladler, the son of Hailey Walters and Mario Ladler also being escorted by his step-father, Che (pronounced Chay) Walters. Treyvon is part of StuCrew and the drama club, plays in the orchestra and is the football team’s waterboy. He enjoys playing the piano, acting and online gaming. 

The sophomore female attendant is Audra Hammer, the daughter of Annette and the late Bradley Hammer. Audra plays on the girls high school tennis team, is a group leader for Safety Town and is involved in the Fellow Christian Athletes Program. She enjoys camping, visiting family and friends, going to church and the beach. Audra has received numerous Bobcat awards, is on the Honor Roll, was nominated for the Positive Start Program and maintains a 4.0 GPA.

The sophomore male attendant is Reagan Cordes, the son of Holly Wolf-Cordes and Nathan Cordes. Reagan plays baseball and hockey and volunteers at the humane society. When he’s not playing sports, Reagan likes to go fishing and hang out with his friends. Reagan has been successful academically, including being on honor roll several times.

The junior female attendant is Lela Sabin, the daughter of Rebecca Heath and Chris Sabin. Lela is active in sports, having done gymnastics for 7 years, and recently joining soccer. She has many hobbies including: hanging out with her friends, streaming live with all her Facebook followers, trying to teach her cats to talk and ogling over Harry Styles. She aspires to meet Adam Sandler and move to New York. Lela says her grades are “pretty solid”.

The junior male attendant is Tyler Thompson, the son of Meghan and Neil Thompson. Tyler runs Cross Country and Track, and is the Executive of Career Development for DECA. He is also part of the Human Relations Commission that helps end discrimination in Bowling Green. Tyler enjoys hanging out with his friends, reading and listening to Taylor Swift. He has a successful academic career as well, maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

The Penta female attendant is Jazmyn Rose, the daughter of Jason Rose and Amber Ludwig. Jazmyn is also being escorted by her grandparents, Don and Janeen Euler. Jazmyn attends Penta for Criminal Justice and hopes to be a detective focusing on sex trafficking. She volunteers for her Criminal Justice lab and is on honor roll. Jazmyn is very focused on her future goals and is working hard to achieve them.

The Penta male attendant is Ethan Warner, the son of Chad Warner and Heather Daleska. Ethan is the kicker for the Varsity Football team and is attending Penta for Fire Fighting. He volunteers at Central Joint Fire Department and is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Ethan plans on attending business school after graduation.

The Rose Court included Linda Alfaro, daughter of Juanita and James Alfaro; Lucy Busselle, daughter of Rick Busselle and Dawn Shinew; Elsa Concannon, daughter of Karmen and Tim Concannon; Riley Cramer, daughter of Beth and Todd Cramer; Matthew Gerwin, son of Sarah and Scott Gerwin; Andrew Messenger, son of Jill and Steven Messenger; Aubrey Nyiri, son of Jennifer and Csaba Nyiri; Riley Poffenbarger, son of Thomas and Angelina Poffenbarger; Matthew Stevens, son of Kim and Bruce Stevens; Jack Suelzer, son of Marc and Alisa Suelzar; Alexa Thompson, daughter of Ali and Jeremy Thompson; and Sophia Twigg, daughter of Tara and Louis Twigg.
