BGHS FFA gets into the spirit of the season helping to spread holiday cheer

FFA officers shopped for their adopted family though the Dear Santa Society for BGCS.

Bowling Green FFA celebrated the season of giving and sharing with its activities in December.

The chapter supported the Dear Santa Society in a multitude of ways. The officer team shopped to help provide Christmas gifts for a family adopted by the chapter. Extra fruit from the FFA fundraiser was also sorted and delivered to the families of the Dear Santa Society. Members also helped to wrap presents and store all the items in the Ag Department to be delivered to families.

To continue the giving spirit, the freshman classes put together candy cane reindeer which were delivered to three local nursing homes to help spread the holiday cheer. FFA members also collected more than 200 rolls of wrapping paper to donate to Thayer’s Christmas Dreams program.

Senior FFA members packaged up extra fruit to be donated to 72 different families in the community.  The chapter also collected over 200 rolls of wrapping paper for Thayer’s Christmas Dreams.

Chapter president, Addie Naus, conducted her passion project by putting collection boxes at the high school, middle school, and all of the elementary schools. Her project was to collect new toys and donate them to the Toys for Tots through the Salvation Army and WTVG 13abc “Hope for the Holidays” project. In total, she collected 345 toys for Wood County families.

The chapter held a holiday gathering to wrap up the first semester. The officer team decorated the Ag Department to spread holiday cheer. Members were invited to watch a movie, enjoy a hot chocolate bar, decorate and eat cookies, play games, and participate in some arts and crafts.
