BGPD cites three men for allegedly discharging large fireworks from roof of house

Three men were cited for discharging fireworks in the city after Bowling Green Police observed fireworks being discharged from the roof of a house in the 400 block of South Church Street on Friday, shortly after 10 p.m.

Cited were three residents of the house: Ethan Fisher, 21; Andrew DeWitt, 20; and Joshua Swagler, 20. They were also charged with holding a nuisance party.

Police reported seeing multiple large fireworks being discharged from the roof, with a couple fireworks reportedly exploding so close to the house that they started a brief fire on the roof. At least one firework struck the home to the north, according to the police report.

Bowling Green Fire Division was called to the residence to check out smoke that was coming from the roof of the house where the fireworks were being launched.

When police knocked on the door of the house, an officer reported hearing someone inside saying everyone under 21 needed to go upstairs. Police informed Fisher that the party would be shut down due to the fireworks and underage people consuming alcohol.
