BGSU Division of Students Affairs announces changes

From BGSU DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

Effective July 1, the Division of Student Affairs will undergo a reorganization. This organizational change will allow the division to better align and pursue the goals outlined in its strategic plan: Fostering Pathways for Student Success. The division’s reorganization is directly tied to our University strategic goals and priorities. Today we have the opportunity to reimagine our division to better foster student success and personal growth. The new structure will encourage greater integration with the Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) and the Division of Academic Affairs, and will enhance student well- being and promote a vibrant campus life and residential experience, along with intentional efforts to foster a community of inclusion.

The reorganization includes the following key changes:

Jodi Webb will be promoted from dean of students to associate vice president for student affairs. The associate vice president will provide supervision to the Counseling Center, Falcon Health Center, Student Insurance Office and Accessibility Services, and will continue to serve as the advisor to Undergraduate Student Government. This position will lead several divisional priorities. The dean of students will have a dotted-line report to the associate vice president for student affairs.

Christopher Bullins will be promoted from associate dean of students to dean of students. This position will provide supervision to SOAR, Student Conduct, Campus Activities, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Off-Campus Student Services, the Center for Leadership and the President’s Leadership Academy, and student success initiatives. The dean of students will report to the vice president for student affairs. As part of this reorganization, the dean of students will oversee a new position, student engagement and outreach coordinator (a search is underway).

Dr. Jacob Clemens will be promoted from assistant dean to associate dean. In addition to his current duties, this new position will help to develop our collaborative undergraduate leadership minor and major with HESA and EFLP. Additionally, this position will partner with HESA to help establish an institute for postsecondary student success.

Jeffery Jackson, assistant vice president for student career success, will have a dotted-line report in collaboration with the vice president for student affairs. The goal is to foster collaboration to ensure that student career-readiness is integrated throughout our programmatic efforts.

Andy Alt, assistant vice provost, will also have a dotted-line report in collaboration with the vice president for student affairs to ensure intentional support for new student advisement, transition, persistence and retention.

Victoria Ampiaw has been appointed interim director of TRIO Programs. We will pursue a search to fill this position shortly.

Dr. Katherine Stygles will be promoted from LGBT coordinator to assistant director. In addition to her current responsibilities for LGBT programs, this new position will provide administrative, education, and training support for diversity and inclusion efforts.

Sheila Brown has been appointed interim administrator-in-charge and director of Multicultural Affairs. This position will also provide oversight for the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Unit (TRIO, OMA, LGBTQ+, and Project Search). We will pursue a search shortly to fill this position.

Dr. Mary Krueger will serve as part-time director of the Women’s Center until the search for a permanent director is completed.

Dr. Joshua Lawrie has been appointed interim director of Residence Life. We will pursue a search soon to fill this position.
