The 22nd Ohanami Cherry Blossom Festival will be held Sunday, April 2 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union on the Bowling Green State University campus.
Presented by the BGSU Japanese Club and the Asian Studies Program, the Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates Japanese culture and customs.
This marks the return of the festival since the pandemic.
Program Schedule:
- Noon – Doors Open
- 12:15 p.m. – Welcoming Ceremony & Greetings from Distinguished Guests
- 12:50-1:10 p.m. – Martial Arts by Wadokan
- 1:15-1:30 p.m. – Tap Dance by Shiori Yanase and students
- 1:35-1:45 p.m. – Soran-Bushi by BGSU and University of Findlay students
- 1:55-2:15 p.m. – Taiko Performance by Kaze-no-Daichi
- 2:20-2:40 p.m. – Martial Arts by Wadokan
- 2:45-3:00 p.m. – Tap Dance by Shiori Yanase and students
- 3:05-3:15 p.m. – Soran-Bushi by BGSU and University of Findlay students
- 3:20-3:40 p.m. – Taiko Performance by Kaze-no-Daichi
- 3:40-3:50 p.m. Bon-Odori by all the visitors
Festival Activities will be: Origami; Chopsticks Game; Japanese Calligraphy; Traditional Japanese Games; Karuta; Sumo Game; Super Ball Game; Yo-yo Game; Ring Toss; Japanese Flower Arrangement; Japanese Sweets Making; Caricature; Wearing Japanese Yukata; and Tea Ceremony.
Sushi and Japanese snacks will also be available.
