Bowling Green State University has issued the following statement about Kenneth Shemberg, 82, who was found Thursday in City Park, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Shemberg was a long-time faculty member at BGSU.
“We are saddened to hear of the passing of Ken Shemberg, who had worked at the University for 50 years. He will be remembered as a beloved clinical supervisor, mentoring generations of students.
“Ken’s distinguished academic career with the Department of Psychology began in 1966. He was granted emeritus status in May 2017; he retired in August 2017.
“In 1986, he was presented the Outstanding Contributor to Graduate Education Award by the University’s Graduate Student Senate, demonstrating that his passion for psychology was contagious to everyone around him.
“Our thoughts remain with Ken’s family during this difficult time.”
