Bobcat Baseball has back to back wins over Springfield

Nate Kress threw a gem on Thursday for Bowling Green Varsity Bobcat Baseball, allowing zero runs and besting Springfield Varsity Blue Devils by a score of 10-0.

Bowling Green got things started in the first inning.  Ryan Jackson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

A single by Jonah Vercellotti in the fifth inning was a positive for Springfield Varsity Blue Devils.

Kress earned the win for the Bobcats. The righty surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out 10 and walking zero.

Collin Leasure toed the rubber for Springfield. The lefty went two innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one.  Andrew Richard and Gavin Robinson entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

Bowling Green tallied one home run on the day. Braden Loomis had a four bagger in the fourth inning.

The Bobcats racked up 12 hits in the game.  Cam Deiter, Brock Hastings, Loomis, and Jimmy LaForce all had multiple hits for Bowling Green.  LaForce, Loomis, Hastings, and Deiter each collected two hits to lead the Bobcats.

Vercellotti went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Springfield in hits.  The Blue Devils were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Alex Iserman made the most plays with  three.

On Friday, the Bobcats beat Springfield despite an early 3-run inning.

Bowling Green weathered a push by Springfield in the fifth inning where the Bobcats coughed up three runs, but Bowling Green still won 14-3 on Friday.  Springfield batters contributing to the big inning included Semler and Whitmire, all driving in runs in the inning.

Bowling Green secured the victory thanks to 12 runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Bowling Green Varsity Bobcats was led by Nate Kress, Luke Johnson, Ryan Jackson, Jimmy LaForce, and Austin Bowen, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Cam Deiter was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats. Deiter lasted five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out one.

Adam Iserman led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Springfield. The bulldog surrendered four runs on seven hits over three innings, walking zero.  Semler, Thomley, and Sargeont each contributed in relief for Springfield.

Bowling Green tallied 16 hits on the day.  LaForce, Jackson, Brady Gaines, and Kress all collected multiple hits for Bowling Green Varsity Bobcats.  Jackson and LaForce each managed three hits to lead the Bobcats.

Semler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Springfield in hits.
