Bobcat football coach suspended for one week for alleged violation of internal policy

Bowling Green Head Football Coach Josh Wade has been suspended for one week from his coaching duties.

An email was sent out Monday afternoon from Superintendent Ted Haselman to parents of Bobcat football players. When reached this morning, Haselman stressed that students were not at risk, and explained the decision was his to suspend Wade.

“No student athlete was in danger at any time,” Haselman said.

Wade, who teaches high school social studies, will continue teaching during the coaching suspension.

The letter sent out to football parents stated:

“Some recent actions of our head football coach, Mr. Wade, have been brought to our attention that do not align with the high standards of our district. The behavior goes against our internal policy. At no time was a student-athlete in any danger due to the behavior.”

“Actions have consequences,” the email continued. “Due to his recent behavior, Mr. Wade has been suspended for this week’s football activities. With any disciplinary situation, we hope the outcome is a learning experience for those involved.”

Haselman said that due to personnel confidentiality issues, more specifics could not be released.

“I want to reiterate, no student-athlete was in any danger at any time,” the superintendent stated.

Wade will miss the team’s Division III playoff game Friday at Central Catholic in Toledo.
