A Bowling Green man going through some of his father’s belongings came across some military memorabilia Friday afternoon, in the 500 block of North Main Street.
Among the items was a grenade. The son briefly handled the possible explosive device, then placed it on the floor and called police.
Police could not determine if the device was explosive, so BGPD called the Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad for guidance. A member of the squad responded to the scene to investigate. He secured the device in a container for transport.
The son was told the device may be real, but it may never be known for sure. The device will be destroyed at a later time following the bomb squad’s guidelines.
