The Bowling Green FFA Chapter ended the 2021-2022 school year on a great note with many activities. The FFA Chapter held their annual Pancake Breakfast, participated in community service activities and Career Development Events and attended the District 1 Officer Training and Banquet. The chapter also helped with hosting the 4th Grade Ag Fest and ended the year with the May FFA meeting.
All Greenhand members in the 5th and 6th period classes participated in the State Greenhand Quiz CDE where they tested their FFA knowledge. The top 10 scorers on the team are listed in your program. The following members were the top four individual scores and made up the team score – Tanner Amos, Addie Naus, Averie Crawford, and Dylan Young.
The Spring District Contests took place in March at the Fulton County Fairgrounds.
- Jaycob Bagrowski participated in the Equine Judging contest.
- The 8th place Poultry Judging team consisted of Wyatt Bechstein, Zack Bechstein and Cole Brokaw.
- The 22nd place General Livestock Judging team consisted of Madison Carrillo, Eddie Eschedor and Emma Walker.
- The 12th place Wildlife team consisted of Lindsay Eisel, Audrey Geyman, Hunter Sockman and Kenzie Spangenberg.
Finally, Emma Walker and Averie Crawford participated in the Veterinary Science CDE. They placed 63rd in the state.
We had the opportunity to help package trees for the Wood County SWCD tree sale as well as seedlings for each 4th grade student in Wood County. Overall we packed over 3,000 trees to help support natural resource conservation. FFA members in the Senior Ag Business class also had the opportunity to raise hydroponic lettuce in the chapter’s greenhouse. Through their efforts, 50 heads of fresh lettuce were donated to the Brown Bag Food Project.
The 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 BG FFA officer teams hosted a pancake and sausage breakfast to show appreciation to the teachers and staff of Bowling Green High School on the morning of April 30. The officers prepared and served pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, pastries and drinks to the 50 teachers and staff in attendance. Throughout the rest of the day, the officers served pancakes to the FFA members in order to celebrate another successful year. Special thanks to Biggby Coffee and Gary Dible for donating coffee for the event.
The 2022-2023 BG FFA officer team attended the District 1 Officer Training and Banquet at Four County Career Center. The officers had a chance to learn about their individual officer position responsibilities as well as brainstorm ideas for the upcoming year. After the officer training, members attended the District 1 banquet and were recognized for their district level achievements throughout the year.
FFA Members had the opportunity to provide volunteers as well as a petting zoo for the 4th Grade Ag Fest held at the Wood County Fairgrounds in cooperation with the Wood County OSU Extension in May. All 4th graders in Bowling Green City Schools, Montessori, St. Al’s and St. Louis attended to learn all about agriculture including soils, animals, and drones. FFA Members enjoyed interacting with the 4th graders and educating them about their animals and agriculture.
BG FFA ended their year with a monthly FFA meeting led by the 2022-2023 officer team. Members made plans for the summer, enjoyed ice cream for refreshments and played a game of kickball.
BG FFA is a satellite program of Penta Career Center.
