Bowling Green City Schools recently learned of a local business receiving an invoice titled “Bowling Green High School 2019 Spring Sports Poster.” At first glance, the bill appeared to have come from Bowling Green High School.
The invoice had instructions to make checks payable to “Sports Media, 1490 Union Ave., #401, Memphis, TN, 38104.” The company was asking for $169 in exchange for an advertisement on the BGHS 2019 fall sports poster.
The local business owner contacted the school administration before issuing a payment. Bowling Green City Schools Superintendent Francis Scruci confirmed that this was an unauthorized solicitation. Scruci asked the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce to warn businesses of the scam.
