Campus COVID cases decline

As the semester draws to a close, new COVID-19 cases on campus are declining.

For the week of Dec. 8 through Dec. 14, 19 new cases – 14 confirmed and five suspected – were reported.

Students accounted for all but one of those cases. The other is a faculty member with a confirmed case.

This is down from 60 the previous week and 33 from the week before.

According to numbers on the university’s COVID-19 dashboard, 74.5 percent of students have been vaccinated with 14.5 percent granted exemptions with 11 percent still not in compliance. That’s a decline of just shy of 1 percent of the number who have been neither vaccinated nor granted an exemption. For students in residence halls, 94.7 percent are incompliance with 81.5 percent vaccinated and 13.3 exempted.  Among faculty and staff, 90.6 percent are vaccinated and 6.3 percent have received exemptions, leaving 3.1 percent not in compliance.
