Carl Spitz, age 75, of Bowling Green, Ohio, formerly of Iron City, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at his home.
Carl was born on July 20, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Carl D. Spitz and Berniece Edwards. Carl married Dorothy Powell Ellis in 1984 in Florence, Alabama and she preceded him in death in 2004.
Carl traveled with various carnivals for many years, and was the proud operator of the famous “zipper” amusement ride. He also worked at the Tie and Lumber Company in Iron City, TN.
Carl is survived by his brother and best friend, Jerry Bovee of Clio, Michigan, ten other siblings and his seven children: Rusty Henderson (Jan McKnight) of Bowling Green, Debbie Leyrer Winnemucca, Nevada, Randy Leyrer San Angelo, Texas, Lisa Hawes-White and Dawn Hawes both of Montrose, Michigan, April Ellis Iron City, Tennessee and Tammy Guynn, along with numerous grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy, and their infant sons Carl D. and Jason L. Spitz.
There will be no service. Burial will be in Iron City, Tennessee at a later date. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
