Carol J Lininger

Carol J. Lininger, 75, of Bowling Green, OH, passed away on Thursday April 27, 2023 at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green.

She was born on October 22, 1947 in Lima, OH, to the late O.J. “Bill” and Adell H. (Metzner) Lininger.

Surviving are five siblings, Sister Mary Adell (Gloria) Lininger S.N.D, Gainsville, FL, James W. “Boe” (Sharyn) Lininger, Fostoria, Nancy L. Lambertson, Minnetonka, MN, John E. “Jack” (Cindy) Lininger, Findlay and William M. “Bill” Lininger, Roanoke, VA; along with many nieces and nephews, Jamie (Charlotte) Lininger, the late Jeff (Vicki) Lininger, Jason (Carmen) Lininger, Kristin (Michael) Kalan, Aaron (Vanessa) Lininger and Becky (Leroy) McGowan; great nieces and nephews, Jacquelyn, Joel, Kayleigh, Justin, Leah, Emily, Christian, Andrew, Kayla and Kam.

Carol was a member of St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy, Toledo in 1966, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science in 1974 from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, and later an undergraduate major in Computer Science. She retired with 35 years of service with the university, in the library, and in the IT Department as Computer Operations Supervisor.

She was a member and past-president of the St.Vincent DePaul Society in Fostoria. In her leisure she enjoyed playing euchre and needlepoint. She made every niece and nephew a Christmas stocking. She loved her nieces and nephews, singing, dogs… especially Snoopy. She was kind, generous, gentle and humble.

Visitation is 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 PM on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at Hoening & Son Funeral Home 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830 where a vigil will take place at 7:30 PM. Additional visitation will be held from 9 – 10 AM on Thursday May 4, 2023 at the funeral home. Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM on Thursday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria with Very Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the St. Wendelin Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Fostoria St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen in care of the funeral home.
