Chamber, Welcome BG presenting lunch series on workplace diversity

Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Welcome BG, announce a series of three Lunch and Learn events that will address the Importance of Diversity in the Workplace.  All Lunch and Learn events will be held Thursday, Feb. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Four Corners Center, 130 S. Main St., Bowling Green.

The first of a series will feature Dr. Kefa M. Otiso as guest speaker. He will focus on the role of immigration in meeting local labor force needs and expanding markets.

This seminar is free for Chamber Investors and $10 for Non-Investors.  Guests my bring their own lunch or order a boxed lunch for $10. Reservations are required by Wednesday, Feb. 26.  For more details and to RSVP, please visit the Chamber website at www.bgchamber.net.

Dr. Otiso is a Professor of Geography, Professor of Service Excellence (2017-2020), and Director of the Global Village at Bowling Green State University. He is also a Commissioner on the [Ohio] New African Immigrants Commission. He has made presentations in many national and international conferences and he is a past editor of the African Geographical Review. He is a 2008 recipient of the Republic of Kenya’s Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) award for service excellence and is a frequent media commentator on many US, Kenyan, and other international news outlets.

This series about Diversity in the Workplace will continue in April and May with topics including hiring legal immigrants and understanding the Employment Visa process.
