Christine Woods

Christine Woods born in Buffalo, NY February 6, 1946 returned home to the Lord January 15, 2024.

A Bowling Green resident for 40 years with her husband, Donald who preceded her in death in 2021, Chris was a 1967 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Home Economics and Sociology. While in college she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Following graduation, she began her career as a Social Worker until 1973 when she paused her career to raise her family.

In 1978 she resumed her career, this time at St. Thomas More University Parish in Bowling Green as the Secretary and Bookkeeper until 1982. Meanwhile, in 1980, she started working at Bowling Green State University first in Air Force ROTC as the Uniform Manager, aka “The Cage Lady”. In 1984 she began working in Residential Life at BGSU, and for the next 10 years worked as a Front Desk Specialist.

In 1994 Christine would return to her career in Social Work at Wood County Department of Human Services where she would work until her retirement in 2004. After retiring, Christine and Donald moved to Sunset Beach, North Carolina to enjoy the weather, company of old friends from BG and new friends from all over. She was a resident at the Sea Trail community for 19 years.

Christine was an avid BGSU athletics fan, spending many weekends at the ice arena watching hockey games. She spent decades repairing uniforms for the hockey and baseball teams. She enjoyed Garden Club and continued with Garden Club when she moved to North Carolina. Also, in North Carolina she enjoyed playing mahjong with her friends.

Christine is survived by her son and daughter-in- law Greg and Mary Beth Woods and their four daughters Freya, Vivvy, Lynn and Evangeline, all of Westerville, Ohio and by her daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Matt Batcho, and their two daughters Makenna and Kourtnie of Aurora, Colorado. She is also survived by her sisters Lisa Parker (Doug), Lockport, NY, Donna Leone (Rick), Lake Worth, FL, Andrea Spencer, Atlantic Beach, FL and Amy Crane (Dave), Atlantic Beach, FL. Christine also has many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and a great-niece.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday January 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More University Parish, 425 Thurstin St. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Interment will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
