Clara Rosa (Tuty) Lance, of Bowling Green and formerly of Custar, Ohio passed away at the age of 96 on June 25, 2018. She was born on February 19, 1922 in Custar, Ohio to John and Mary (Baumberger) Wilhelm. Clara was salutatorian of her graduating class from Milton School. She also graduated from Stautzenberger College and worked as a secretary in Toledo before marrying Cloyce Lance on February 19, 1944.
Clara spent her life working alongside her husband on the family farm and raising her 5 children. She was involved in scouting and an active member of the St. Lous Catholic Church in Custar. In 1995, after 50 years of marriage, Clara was preceded in death by her husband Cloyce.
She is survived by her five children, Jane (Chuck) Murry of Wauseon, Ohio, Alan (Sherry) Lance of Culpepper, VA, Myra (Rick) Van Vorhis, Dona (Steve) Powell and Lora (Tod) Finch, all of Bowling Green, Ohio. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Jeff, Jill, Lisa, Alan Jr., Luke, Greg, Lance, Brooke, Bryce, Greta, Emma and nineteen great grandchildren and sisters Mary Phillips and Martha Phillips.
Clara was preceded in death by brothers Bernard, Paul, Harold and Lawrence Wilhelm and sisters Hilda Courtney and Lucy Bechstein.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at Saint Louis Catholic Church, 22792 Defiance Pike Custar, Ohio 43511. Father Walter Tuscano will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Custar. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Memorials contributions may be given in her memory to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Louis Church.
