The Northwest Ohio Climate Reality Project will present a free showing of “How to Power a City,” Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6:15 p.m. at The Imagination Station.

The film highlights how community activists in six communities — New York City, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Detroit/Highland Park and communities in Vermont and Puerto Rico – lead the way toward sustainable renewable energy.  The film reveals how these communities face obstacles including fossil fuel dependence to technical impasses, public ignorance, cost, indifferent leaders, and superstorm disasters. They prevail with solutions that do more than just create electricity.

The doors will be open at 5:30 p.m. so attendees can visit displays by more than a dozen displays.

“Our goal is to give people the information they need to take the next steps in saving money while promoting climate-friendly practices through the use of renewable energy for their homes or businesses,” said Greg Breier, co-chair of the Northwest Ohio Climate Reality Project.

“’How to Power A City’ gives us inspiration that the City of Toledo can join this growing number of clean energy communities,” Says Dennis Slotnick, Climate Reality member and event organizer.

A panel discussion will follow the film with questions from the audience welcome.

The panel will be moderated by Alicia Smith, community liaison for Junction Coalition. Panelists are:

  • Julie Rothmanager of the Energy Team, Ann Arbor’s A2Zero sustainability project.
  • Dr. Bob McCollister is a university instructor and trained as a climate reality presenter and representing Green Energy Ohio.
