Conference to look at intersection of criminal justice and behavioral health care

Submitted by WCADAMHS and NAMI Wood County

The Wood County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board (WCADAMHS) and National Alliance on Mental Illness of Wood County (NAMI Wood County) will host a conference titled “Connecting at the Intercept: Navigating the Wood County Crisis Continuum.”

The inaugural Sequential Intercept Model: Connecting at the Intercepts Conference will be held on Friday (June 28) from 1-4 p.m. at Wood County Job and Family Services. Continuing education credit is pending for behavioral healthcare providers, attorneys, and law enforcement.

Limited registration is available online at the NAMI Wood County website.

The sequential intercept model focuses on problem-solving for individuals involved in multiple systems, including criminal justice and behavioral health systems. The Wood County community has been actively implementing support strategies for this population for nearly a decade, with incredible support from various partners. Many of these partners participated in planning the conference, and the WCADAMHS Board and NAMI Wood County are very grateful for their contributions.

The efforts from this community have resulted in the expansion of our local crisis system with the opening of the Crisis Stabilization Unit. This year’s conference will provide participants with an in-depth look at when and how to utilize our local resources and process through continued needs and challenges
