County EMA provides latest update on what to expect from storm

Jeff Klein, Emergency Management Agency  director for Wood County, has issued the following advisory:

Highlights from this afternoon’s National Weather Service Cleveland update:

  • Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect until 7 a.m. Friday February 3, 2022
  • We are still expecting a slow transition, currently there is some snow in northern Toledo. The major transition to be expected between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. today.
  • Most of the county will get between 6” and 8” tonight.
  • Decreased chance of sleet and ice due to a minimal transition.
  • Expecting heavy snow due to its high-water content, this may create some tree damage.
  • Will see a break in snow between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.
  • Heaviest snow will be Thursday afternoon, expecting between 4”-6”
  • Total snowfall is expected to be 8”-12” , worst case scenario 14.1”
  • Wind gusts 25-30 mph tonight, 30-35 mph Thursday and Thursday night
  • Snow expected to end 9 p.m.-11 p.m. Thursday
  • Wind chills Friday -5 and -10 Friday night
