Wood County is now up to 3,043 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 since March, according to the Friday, Nov. 6, update from the Wood County Health Department. That is 63 more cases than on Thursday.
The county has recorded a total of 104 deaths from COVID. Of those, one person was in her 40s, three were in their 50s, 10 were in their 60s, 25 in their 70s, 45 in their 80s, and 20 in their 90s. Of the deaths, 59 have been females, and 45 have been males.
As of today there are 239 active cases in the county, which is 36 more than on Thursday. Active cases are Wood County residents who are being monitored by the health department according to state and federal isolation criteria.
A total of 242 local residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus, with one more being hospitalized since Thursday.
Of the total 3,043 cases in the county as of today, those with the virus ranged in age from 1 to 102, with the median age of 36. Of those testing positive, 1,604 were female, and 1,438 were male.
Cases involving BGSU students and staff who live in surrounding counties and commute are included in BGSU figures, but not Wood County’s total count.
Every Wednesday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by ZIP codes. As of this week, there were 19 areas in the county with active cases.
The Perrysburg ZIP code area has the most active cases, with 66-70. The Bowling Green ZIP codes areas this week number 56-60 active cases.
Rossford has 11-15 active cases, and Northwood has 6-11 cases. Areas with 1 to 5 cases each included Bloomdale, Bradner, Fostoria, Grand Rapids, Haskins, Lemoyne, Luckey, Millbury, North Baltimore, Pemberville, Risingsun, Rudolph, Stony Ridge, Walbridge, and Weston.
The latest numbers reported for schools (week of Oct. 12) in the county include: Bowling Green Christian Academy, one student; Eastwood, one student; Lake, one student; Northwood, one student, one staff; Penta Career Center, four students, two staff; Perrysburg, two students, one staff; Rossford, five students, four staff; and St. Rose Preschool, one staff.
Of the total 3,043 cases in Wood County, at least 419 have been in long-term care facilities – 247 were residents and 172 were staff. Those numbers from long-term care facilities are updated every Wednesday.

- Otterbein Perrysburg: 6 residents, 18 staff.
- Otterbein Pemberville: 14 residents, 14 staff.
- Heritage Corner Health Care, Bowling Green: 14 residents, 10 staff.
- St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg: 1 resident, 6 staff.
- Grand Rapids Care Center: 1 resident, 2 staff.
- Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore: 45 residents, 19 staff.
- Brookdale, Bowling Green: 0 residents, 1 staff.
- Wood Lane Residential Werner House: 1 resident, 1 staff.
- Wood Haven Health Care: 0 residents, 3 staff.
- Waterford at Levis Commons: 0 residents, 3 staff.
- Bowling Green Manor: 0 residents, 3 staff.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, at least 61 of Wood County’s 104 deaths from COVID-19 have occurred in long-term care facilities.
