Cynthia S. Rigel, 82, of Bowling Green Ohio passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family.
Cindy was born to the late Paul and Winifred Strayer on July 22, 1940 and was raised in Delphos Ohio. Cindy graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School. After graduation, she attended The Ohio State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While attending Ohio State she went on a blind date at Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills. That would set the course for an incredible life. That moment of fate put her together with the love of her life Larry Rigel. They married on July 7, 1963 and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2005. Together they shared a life with three children, Aimee Malcolm (Andy), Franklin Tennessee, Wendy Thompson (Steve), Columbus Ohio, Tom Rigel (Catherine), Bowling Green Ohio. Cindy is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Brock, Owen, Elizabeth, Kent, Pierce, Thomas, Lauren, and Josie. She is also survived by her sisters: Patricia Davis and Diane Simpers.
Cindy began her teaching career at Columbus City Schools. Her true passion was to be a stay-at-home mother, raising her three children. When the family moved to Bowling Green, she and Larry built their dream home where she became part of a great community of friends that she considered to be like family. For 50 years Cindy took great pride in her home, a place that she wanted to spend her days, working in her yard and creating beautiful flower gardens. Cindy was an artist and she enjoyed painting and creating hand made cards. She was a believer in Christ and a member of the Tontogany Calvary Church. More than anything, Cindy loved her family and friends. She was a proud wife, mother and a wonderful Nana. Cindy will be truly missed by all those that knew her.
Visitation for Cindy will be on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 12 noon until the time of her Celebration of Life Service at 1:30 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W.
