DeWine to visit Conneaut Elementary School to observe structured reading approach

Conneaut Elementary School

Bowling Green City Schools will be hosting Gov. Mike DeWine for a brief visit to Conneaut Elementary on Tuesday, March 28, at 1 p.m.

According to Melissa Weber-Mayrer, director of the Ohio Department of Education Office of Approaches to Teaching and Professional Learning, the visit is to showcase districts like Bowling Green that have spent time, effort, and funding to ensure that teachers have what they need to best meet the needs of all readers in the district.

The governor will see the science of reading in action and hear how the district is shifting from a balanced literacy approach to a more structured literacy approach in the elementary buildings.

Bowling Green Superintendent Francis Scruci and the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning Angela Schaal will share the work being done in Bowling Green City Schools by the students, teachers and staff.
