Domestic violence survivors exempt from state curfew

(Submitted by The Cocoon)

With recent developments across the state, The Cocoon wants to be sure that survivors of domestic violence know that when their safety is in question they are exempt from the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew to seek services.

A curfew is in effect across the state of Ohio as of Thursday, Nov. 19, and will last 21 days. Per Gov. Mike DeWine’s announcement, those experiencing domestic violence are exempt from this order if they need to leave an abusive situation.

The Cocoon remains available 24/7 to assist those needing support. An advocate can be reached by calling 419-373-1730, option #2. Our emergency safe shelter remains operational, and our community-based advocates are available to provide support and services.
