Donna G. Dill, 90, died September 2, 2017, at The Apostolic Nursing Home in Rittman, Ohio.
A private Graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 5, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Deshler, Ohio. She was born November 13, 1926 to Charles Dill and Anna Marie Schilling Dill.
Donna spent her adult life in Bowling Green, Ohio. She graduated from Deshler High school in 1944 and attended business school after high school.
She worked as an Administrative Secretary to the Executive Director of Utilities for the city of Bowling Green for 31 ½ years. She retired in 1984. She was an active member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bowling Green where she was a scripture reader, communion helper, worked on church bulletins, and was a Wednesday Night Line Helper.
Dedicating much of her life to others, Donna was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in Bowling Green. She was a Gray Lady at the Wood County Hospital. A Guild Member of the Kings Daughters and Sons, American Cancer Society, a member of the American Red Cross, Wood County Historical Society, Wood County Humane Society, and Wood County Committee of Aging, and Heritage Corner.
Donna’s hobbies included collecting cats, dachshunds, angels, toothpick holders and Hummels. She crocheted, made Christmas candy for her family and friends and collected stuffed animals. She loved playing bingo and was extremely lucky. Donna enjoyed traveling on Senior Bus Trips.
Donna’s true love was the numerous pets that she rescued. In her later years, her companion was Scamper, the cat. He was very important to her and always by her side.
Although she spent most of her life in Bowling Green, she spent her final 3 years in Rittman, Ohio where she could be close to her family that was always important to her.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Wyoma Dill Hughes, her brother Everett Dill and brother-in-law Clarence Carl Hughes.
Ms. Dill is survived by her sister-in-law, Karol Kirkpatrick Dill, and Five Nieces, Marcee (Steve) Maurer, Mary (Randy) Adams, Anne Oman, Alyssa (Scott) Thompson and Alyson (Dean) Miller. Donna also is survived by her 9 great nieces and 3 great nephews, 4 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew.
